Pit St. Skatepark is hosting Send It 100 on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 with the likes of Scouting for Girls and Toploader performing. They will be joined by a host of internationally recognised athletes competing across skateboarding, scootering, BMX, inline and roller skating.

The not-for-profit skatepark based in the old Sainsbury’s will also be taking over the now disused car park for the event with a large vert ramp being built for the athletes to showcase their skills.

There will be much more than just music and skating on offer for the event. A Pitt St. Skatepark spokesperson said: “Send It 100 brings together internationally recognised riders, a headline music line-up across two days, a market packed with local traders, free coaching, workshops, food and drink, and plenty for kids to get stuck into.

“It promises to be one of the many standout events of the city's centenary year.”

With city longlisted for UK City of Culture 2029, the leader of Portsmouth City Council Steve Pitt, who was instrumental in supporting the set-up of Pitt St, believes this event helps to make Portsmouth’s case.

He said: "Send It 100 is exactly the kind of event that makes me proud to lead this city. In our centenary year, a grassroots, not-for-profit organisation like Pitt St. is bringing world-class wheeled sports and music to Portsmouth, run by the community, for the community.

“As we make our case for UK City of Culture 2029, this is living proof of the creativity and ambition we have right here on our doorstep. I'd encourage everyone to come down, get involved, and celebrate 100 years of our great city."

Also performing over the weekend will be Dave McCabe (The Zutons), Don Letts, The Fratellis (DJ Set), and a host of the city's best local acts including Mother Shipton, Blink Daze, Bloody Grungers, Paramour with more to be confirmed nearer the time.

Pitt St.'s much-loved regular features will run over the weekend, including the roller disco, indoor skating, and free coaching sessions from The Academy of Wheels, giving newcomers of all ages the chance to try wheeled sports for themselves.

The Pitt St. Skatepark spokesperson added: “Thanks to our sponsors for helping to make this event happen: Portsmouth City Council, Skullcandy, New Balance Numeric, City of Portsmouth College, Neon Numbers, Spraywall Interiors, Guardian Installations.”
