Portsmouth’s Pitt St. Skatepark to launch “The Whatever Market” this March in a boost to the city

A new “eclectic and accessible indoor marketplace” is set to be launched at Pitt St. Skatepark in a boost to the city.

The first "Whatever Market" is taking place on Sunday, March 29 and will be a place that people can buy and sell “whatever”, bridging the gap between a professional makers' fair and a community treasure hunt.

Shoppers can expect to find local makers, artists, vintage sellers, and high quality wardrobe clear outs, as well as take advantage of the skatepark’s cafe which will also be open as well as book a skate session.

The market is the latest venture from Jake and Jenna Skinner, the dedicated owners behind the transformation of Pitt St. Skatepark which is housed inside the former Sainsburys supermarket in the city centre. Having worked tirelessly to get the Pitt St. project off the ground, the duo also operates as a Community Interest Company (CIC), relying heavily on local support to keep the wheels turning.

By launching the Whatever Market, Jake and Jenna aim to keep the skatepark a bustling hub of activity while giving something tangible back to the city.

"We’ve worked hard to make Pitt St. a reality, and this market is our way of opening our doors even wider," says the duo. "It’s about more than just shopping; it’s about supporting start-ups and giving our community a space to thrive."
