Pitt St. Skatepark launches The Wheels Academy - a new 'affordable' coaching programme for all ages and abilities
New coaching programme launched at Pitt St. Skatepark
A new coaching programme has been launched at a popular Portsmouth skatepark as it aims to welcome more first-timers.
The new services include one-to-one coaching and after-school training sessions for older kids.
Sam Tuffnell, the academy manager, said: "Pitt St. has always been a place where anyone can learn to skate, no matter their age or ability. We've loved watching people progress and find their people here. The Academy of Wheels is about giving that experience a bit more shape; affordable sessions, qualified coaches, and a fun place to learn something new."
There are a number of options available from casual sessions to six-week courses. The after school sessions run from Tuesday to Friday between 4pm to 6.45pm and are available to 12-year-olds and over costing £12 per sessions. It provides casual experience where people an fun with a coach on hand for tips and games.
For a more structures session there is kids group coaching for under 16s on Tuesdays from 4 to 5pm which is £60 for six weeks. Both the after-school club and kids group coaching begin on June 2 and include equipment hire.
A summer bootcamp will run throughout the summer holidays while one to one coaching sessions will be available year-round.
The launching of The Wheels Academy also coincides with the introduction of a new summer memberships where people can sign up for £30 a month for unlimited come-and-go access.
