Families will have the chance to get up close to emergency service vehicles as 999 Family Fun Day returns to Port Solent

Families can take a look inside emergency service vehicles at the event this September.

Families will have the chance to get up close to emergency service vehicles and equipment as the 999 Family Fun Day returns to Port Solent in September.

Visitors to the event on September 5 will have the opportunity to speak to members of the emergency services and specialist emergency teams, as well as exploring emergency response vehicles from both the past and the present.

Lisa Fowler, Events and Marketing Manager at Port Solent said: “Our 999 Family Fun Day is always a real highlight in the calendar. We’re delighted to welcome back emergency services and organisations that support our local communities, with a fantastic range of vehicles and displays for visitors to enjoy.

“From emergency response vehicles to historic police cars, the event offers families a rare chance to see behind the scenes, meet the people behind the uniforms and discover more about the work they do.”

The event takes place ahead of Emergency Services Day on September 9, a day dedicated to recognising and showing support for emergency services staff. It will be held in the Port Solent car park from 10am to 4pm.

Among those attending will be Hampshire Search and Rescue, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, the Coastguard and South Central Ambulance Service, alongside displays from the RNLI, MOD Police and RAYNET communications service.
