With 97 points and just five defeats, it has been a remarkable season for John Mousinho’s men, whose heroics have etched them into Blues folklore.
Here’s our overall ratings and assessment of the 31 first-team players involved in Pompey’s memorable 2023-24 campaign...

17. Terry Devlin - 7
(25 games, two goals)Recruited from Glentoran as a 19-year-old and earmarked as one for the future, Devlin's development was that impressive he was soon elevated to Mousinho's first-team squad. High energy, versatile, capable of driving with the ball, the youngster was called up to Northern Ireland's side after arriving at Pompey. A particular highlight was the goal on his full debut at Reading in October to cap the fightback from 2-0 down, while also assisted Colby Bishop for the point at Derby. Ruled out for the season after damaging shoulder ligaments at Oxford in January, he surprisingly returned to feature off the bench at Lincoln on the final day. Photo: Jason Brown

18. Tom Lowery - 7.5
(9 games, 0 goals)Another injury-ravaged season for Lowery, who damaged his knee on the opening day and was ruled out for five months. Then, after returning and re-establishing himself in the centre of midfield, suffered a hamstring tear in February. Such a shame as clearly very popular with the Fratton faithful and a very good performer, offering composure and excellent use of the ball in possession. Returned to the side for the final day at Lincoln and again impressed. Photo: Jason Brown

19. Callum Lang - 8
(12 games, four goals)Signed from Wigan in January to provide attacking momentum in their Championship push, that's precisely what Lang gave. Netting off the bench at Oxford United on his debut, he then scored against Northampton on his full bow in a scintillating start to his Fratton Park career. Lang had scored four times in eight outings before an awful challenge at Blackpool put him on the sidelines with ankle damage. Not quite the same player when he returned from injury at Bolton more than a month later, but also energetic, full of running and trying to make things happen. With a return of four goals and three assists in 12 Pompey appearances, it augurs well for the future. Photo: Jason Brown

20. Lee Evans - 7
(4 games, 0 goals)With Pompey seeking to bolster squad strength in March, they recruited the three-time promotion winner, who was without a club having undergone knee surgery in October. Experienced, a serial winner, a leader and a talented midfielder, it was a no-brainer for Mousinho. Handed starts against Derby and Barnsley, he made a favourable impact as he helped usher the Blues over the line to promotion. Photo: Jason Brown
