However, over the last decade, just 20 Blues first-team players have departed for transfer fees – with only two fetching more than £750,000.
While Jamal Lowe, Matt Clarke, Jed Wallace, Adam Webster, Marcus Hardness and Conor Chaplin represented big windfalls, there are other small sales you have probably forgotten about.
So here are the 20 Pompey players sold since the summer of 2015...

9. Reeco Hackett - June 14, 2023
With John Mousinho revamping his squad in the summer of 2023 for what would prove to be a League One title-winning season, it made sense for the winger to depart, Hackett was keen to leave for regular football and Mousinho was open to letting him - with Lincoln coming in with £40,000 in June 2023. 10. Adam Webster - June 6, 2016
The classy central defender enjoyed something of a renaissance at Fratton Park under Paul Cook and, having caught the eye of Ipswich during an FA Cup clash, he was sold in June 2016. Webster had flourished with regular first-team football in his favoured centre-half role, with Ipswich paying around £700,000 and throwing in Matt Clarke as part of the deal. He later moved to Bristol City in a £3.5m deal and then, in August 2019, joined Brighton in a £20m move, since totalling more than 100 Premier League starts. Photo: None

11. Anton Walkes - January 9, 2020
The right-back or holding midfielder was originally a Kenny Jackett loan signing from Spurs in January 2018, which was turned permanent the following summer. However, Walkes’ versatility often went against him and he could never quite establish himself as a regular starter. In January 2020, he returned to MLS side Atlanta United in a £100,000 deal following two years at Fratton Park. He sadly passed away at the age of 25 In January 2023. Photo: Joe Pepler

12. Conor Chaplin - January 4, 2019
Desperate for regular first-team football having been a fixture on the bench under Paul Cook and Kenny Jackett, Chaplin was desperate to get away at the start of the 2018-19 season - and soon got his wish. Although he initially joined Coventry on loan in August 2018, the plan was to turn it into a permanent deal in January 2019. He subsequently departed for good for an undisclosed fee. He subsequently moved onto Barnsley, but it was at Ipswich where he really thrived, winning successive promotions, while scored in the Premier League last season. Photo: Joe Pepler
