However, over the last decade, just 20 Blues first-team players have departed for transfer fees – with only two fetching more than £750,000.
While Jamal Lowe, Matt Clarke, Jed Wallace, Adam Webster, Marcus Hardness and Conor Chaplin represented big windfalls, there are other small sales you have probably forgotten about.
So here are the 20 Pompey players sold since the summer of 2015...

13. Marcus Harness - July 15, 2022
Having wisely activated their 12-month club option to retain the services of the winger, it soon became apparent it would suit all parties if Pompey could find a buyer. With Danny Cowley eyeing the cash to bring in Colby Bishop and Harness eager for a fresh challenge elsewhere, Ipswich paid around £600,000 to land him in July 2022. He won successive promotions with Ipswich and also featured in the Premier League at the start of last season, before loaned out for the remainder of the campaign to Derby. Handed a free transfer by the Tractor Boys, he has since joined Huddersfield. Photo: Joe Pepler

14. Leon Maloney - January 30, 2020
The promising Academy winger burst into the first-team and made six cup appearances, including a goal in a Checkatrade Trophy 2-1 win over Northampton at Fratton Park in December 2019. However, he was sold to Dutch club FC Volendam in January 2020 for an undisclosed fee. Following his release in the summer of 2023, Maloney returned to England with AFC Totton and, since last summer, has been with the Hawks. Photo: Joe Pepler

15. Elias Sorensen - January 9, 2025
Made a dream start to life at Fratton Park following his arrival from Esbjerg, by netting 23 minutes into his debut in the 3-3 draw with Leeds on the opening day of the Championship. However, the Danish striker soon looked out of this depth, slipping entirely out of first-team contention, and Pompey swiftly cut their losses by offloading him to Norwegian club Valerenga in January 2025 for around £250,000. 16. Matt Clarke - June 21, 2019
Pompey’s League One play-off semi-final defeat to Sunderland would signal the end of Clarke’s time at Fratton Park following successive The News/Sports Mail Player of the Season awards. The Fratton faithful accepted they could no longer keep hold of the talented centre-half, who essentially moved to Brighton with the club’s blessing in June 2019 - and a transfer fee of around £4m. Clarke would never play for Brighton, instead being sent on loan to Derby (twice) and West Brom, before joining Middlesbrough permanently in the summer of 2022. He is now with Derby.
