But what does the future hold for those who see their existing deals come to a close?
We’ve assessed the likely outcomes for those who see their contracts at an end this term.

5. Ronan Curtis
Another player who looked certain to be moving on last summer, with Danny Cowley publicly stating the time looked right for a parting of the ways. The likes of Hibs were mooted as a possible destination, but a suitable home wasn't found. His fortunes looked to be revitalised under John Mousinho, who is a big fan of the winger but then injury cruelly struck. Pompey have pledged their support for Curtis' rehab as he faces being sidelined until December. May be a pathway for an agreement when he's fit again. Verdict: Stay. Photo: Jason Brown

6. Josh Oluwayemi
Been such a dependable back-up keeper and, aside from an error at Bolton, has not let anyone down at all. Popular among the first-team group and unlikely to cost the earth to keep. Everything points to the Nigerian talent being around next season. Verdict: Stay. Photo: Jason Brown

7. Clark Robertson
Two-year agreement comes to a close following the Scot's arrival from Rotherham in 2021. Curiously, has found himself the subject of some online criticism after a rusty display on his return from nearly three months out at Bournemouth last month. The reality is Robertson has been a dependable performer when he's been in the Pompey side. The concern for John Mousinho will be the centre-back's injury record. Last season he played 28 games with 24 appearances under his belt this term, that may be a decisive factor in deciding his future. Verdict: Go. Photo: Jason Brown

8. Alfie Bridgman
Bridgman is on a third-year scholar agreement which comes to a close this summer. Spent time out on loan at Bognor, where the 18-year-old has picked up 28 appearances, as well as sub outing against Crystal Palace in the Papa John's Trophy. Has also benefitted from age-group international experience with Malta. With no under-21 side, it would most likely be another development loan if the Crookhorn lad got a new deal. Verdict: Stay.
