John Mousinho’s side will also be desperate to retain their unbeaten start to the season and give the 1,400 members of the travelling Fratton faithful something to cheer on their midweek trip to the Abbey Stadium.
The latest on the injury front is that Marlon Pack, Tom Lowery and Anthony Scully remain out. However, Gavin Whyte is back in contention after missing Saturday’s 1-0 win against Carlisle through illness.
But what can supporters expect selection-wise ahead of the game against the U’s? Here’s how we think Pompey will line up tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

5. Centre-back 2: Conor Shaughnessy
The former Burton man is making it increasingly difficult for either Sean Raggett or Ryley Towler to break into this team. Continued his outstanding start to life at Fratton Park with his second last-gasp winner in three games against Carlisle on Saturday. Photo: Barry Zee

6. Left-back: Connor Ogilvie
The defender has missed the past six games through injury but was back on the bench against Carlisle at the weekend. In his absence, Jack Sparkes has performed superbly to give John Mousinho a real selection dilemma in the left-back berth. Dropping Sparkes to the bench would seem harsh. However, it would be no surprise to see Ogilvie restored to the starting XI for what could be a tough night defensively on the road. Photo: Jason Brown

7. Central midfield 1: Joe Morrell
The Welshman is so important to this team, especially with Marlon Park still out through injury. Morrell's experience and know-how will be vital tonight. Photo: Jason Brown

8. Central midfield 2: Alex Robertson
You suspect there might be a need to hand the on-loan Manchester City loanee a breather at some point given that this is his maiden season at senior level. However, he's proving his quality week in, week out at the moment - so that rest might have to wait. Photo: Jason Brown
