Portsmouth transfer chief provides fresh update on homecoming for Hull City man Abu Kamara amid Charlton Athletic interest
Pompey are looking to bring Abu Kamara back to Fratton Park this summer, but face interest from Championship rivals Charlton Athletic.
Rich Hughes has reiterated Pompey’s interest in Abu Kamara this summer.
And the sporting director has made it clear the Blues are trying to find the right way to reach an agreement with Hull City to bring the Fratton favourite back to the south coast.

Kamara’s future looks to be away from the MKM Stadium, with a potential departure likely just two years after the Tigers fended off competition in a £3.5m deal, with £1m in add ons.
It’s been a frustrating two years for the England youth international on Humberside, which has seen him score just five goals in 40 appearances following his big-money move.
Kamara has so far failed to eclipse the impressive form seen during his outstanding season-long loan at Fratton Park, where he netted 10 goals and collected 11 assists helping Mousinho’s men to the League One title.
Pompey transfer chief’s fresh update on pursuit of Hull City man Abu Kamara
Pompey, of course, have long-standing interest in the former Norwich City man and have tried to secure his signature in 2024 before the Tigers flexed their financial muscle.
But with the possibility of a deal emerging this summer, Hughes confirmed the Blues’ interest earlier this month.
And that remains the case as Mousinho’s men look to reach an agreement with Hull, despite fresh competition from Championship rivals Charlton Athletic.
Speaking in a fresh transfer update on BBC Radio Solent, the sporting director said: ‘We understand the excitement (from fans) on that one with Abu.
‘I think - as we’ve alluded too - it’s something that has always been of interest to the club.
‘What we have to do is respect Hull’s position, their pre-season and their head coach. But as people can probably understand, it’s something that we would be interested in.
‘We just have to find the right way of trying to reach an agreement on that and getting everything moving forward.’
Pompey’s right-wing options

Pompey currently have Harvey Blair and Franco Umeh as their sole options on the right at present.
While the former has been a regular for the Blues in pre-season so far, the latter has yet to register an outing as the club continue to manage his workload.
Umeh featured just twice last season - amassing just 45 minutes of action - following his £500,000 switch from Crystal Palace.
Versatile attacker Eoin Kenny has impressed during the Blues’ pre-season friendlies after his arrival from Dundalk at the start of July, while New Zealand’s Luke Brooke-Smith is also set to bolster their wide ranks.
His imminent arrival will take the number of signings up to six this summer, following the recent captures of Daniel Bielica and Marko Milovanovic.
