Hull City make significant Abu Kamara decision amid Pompey transfer pursuit

Abu Kamara’s Hull City future is under the spotlight as Pompey eye a potential homecoming this summer.

Abu Kamara has been included in Hull City’s two-week pre-season tour of Slovenia and Turkey amid growing interest from Pompey.

The winger’s future has been up in the air this summer as Sergej Jakirovic primes his squad for Premier League football.

After struggling on loan in Spain’s top flight with Getafe last term, the 22-year-old subsequently returned to the MKM Stadium earlier this month, reporting for duty on the first day of the Tigers’ pre-season.

Although Kamara’s future remains uncertain on Humberside, with Pompey looking to push through a reunion with their one-time loanee, the former England youth international has been included in Hull’s 27-man travelling party, which jetted off to Slovenia on Monday.

Jakirovic will put his squad through a gruelling camp on the continent, beginning with a nine-day stay at the Play Green football centre in Maribor, before flying to Istanbul to face Kasimpasa.

Kamara’s inclusion in the Tigers’ European camp represents a good indication of how far down the road any deal with the Blues currently stands.

It is understood Mousinho’s men are progressing in their efforts to land the ex-Norwich City man, with a switch dependent on finding common ground with Hull over a fee.

Kamara, of course, joined the Tigers in 2024 in a £3.5m deal, which also included a further £1m in add ons, following his brilliant loan stay at Fratton Park.

The forward netted 10 goals and collected 11 assists as he played a pivotal role in the Blues’ 2023-24 League One title success.

During his two-year stay at the MKM Stadium, the winger has so far failed to eclipse the outstanding form in front of goal seen during his hugely-successful Fratton Park stint.

The 22-year-old has netted five goals and provided three assists in 40 appearances for the Tigers in all competitions and also spent last term on loan La Liga outfit Getafe.

Hull City looking to strengthen ahead of Premier League return

Hull have reportedly held talks with the 28-year-old to understand a potential transfer this summer as they ready themselves for Premier League football.

The report states the top-flight new boys are pushing hard to land the Jamaica international, which could push Kamara further down Jakirovic’s pecking order.

The Tigers are anticipated to announce the arrivals of full-back Matt Targett, wing-back Eliott Stroud, midfielder Oscar Zambrano and goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis during their two-week training camp.
