‘Been an absolute disaster. Pay him off’: Clear Portsmouth transfer verdict on defender after latest injury setback
Jacob Farrell has featured three times for Pompey during an injury-ravaged two-year stay.
Pompey fans on social media have been discussing Jacob Farrell’s Fratton Park future after the defender suffered yet another injury blow.
The head coach has since revealed the 23-year-old will now be forced to sit out two months of action, meaning he will miss the start of the campaign alongside Connor Ogilvie, who underwent knee surgery earlier this summer.

The Blues were looking to offload Farrell this summer prior to his fresh blow, which would’ve brought to an end an injury-ravaged two-year stay on the south coast.
Knee and groin problems have restricted the Aussie to just three first-team outings, with his most recent Pompey outing coming in a 1-1 draw against Watford in January.
And the Fratton faithful have been discussing Farrell’s future as he enters the final 12 months of his three-year terms at PO4.
Here’s the best of the reaction from X.
Clear Pompey transfer verdict over Jacob Farrell after latest injury setback
@HancockAnalysis: Impossible not to feel for him on a human level, can you imagine how it must feel having your body break down constantly, denying you of your dreams of playing pro football to a high level - awful, poor bloke.
@ryanlewis79: Pay him off. Another 8 weeks. Get him gone. This has been one of our worst signings in recent times. Nothing about this move has worked. Let’s finish this Aussie obsession.
@Palmrick_pfc: Do feel for the lad but it's a joke at this point.
@Frankie_T_UK: Just pay him off at this point. I feel for the kid, but we need to build.

@snookerfan123: I feel for him. Coming over here hoping to go far in the game, to getting injured fairly constantly. Probably best for both if he leaves.
@CamGpfc: Up there with Abdoulaye Kamara as the biggest waste of money we have spent since being back in this league. Le Roux is not far off but at least he stayed fit to play some games.
@PompeyKirbs: Surely it makes sense to send him back to Aus for his rehab, so he’s in the environment where he’s previously been successful? At least there the shop window will be larger and clearer for perhaps generating a fee for him. This has been ridiculous!
@PompeyPatter: On a personal level, you have to feel for Jacob, it must be so demoralising to have so many set backs and not be able to get fit? From a Pompey perspective, we can’t keep paying players to sit in the treatment room constantly. Would we look at terminating his contract?
@LWalterini1898: I don't care if we don’t get a quid for him, just get him off the wage bill, been an absolute disaster.
@OlliePFC29: We are never going to be able to sell Farrell at this point. He is the most injury prone player ever. Unfortunately I don’t think we will be able to sell him this summer.
@hurgotler: Feel awful for the bloke, was set to be long term Ogilvie replacement but sometimes things don’t work the way there supposed to, good luck at your future club, Jacob!
@debojono: Christ. must be mentally exhausting. Have to get rid unfortunately.
