Pompey were hampered by injuries throughout the campaign on their way to an 18th-placed Championship finish last term.
As preparations for the new season continue this Saturday with a trip to Wycombe Wanderers, a number of key faces remain sidelined due to respective setbacks.
We’ve taken a look at all 12 members of John Mousinho’s squad who are currently battling injury issues and when they could return.

9. Josef Bursik
A quad issue sustained just four minutes into April's 3-1 triumph over Stoke City has forced the keeper to miss all of the Blues’ pre-season camp so far. Bursik is another member of Mousinho’s squad who will be sidelined for the start of the campaign. | Alun Roberts/ProSportsImages

10. Thomas Waddingham
Like Umeh, the Aussie’s fitness is being monitored after ‘feeling a couple of bits’, although Mousinho stressed there are no major injury concerns. Although Waddingham netted in the Blues’ pre-season opener against Woking, the striker has missed the previous two friendlies, but could feature against Wycombe this weekend. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

11. Zak Swanson
Swanson missed the final eight games of the season after undergoing knee surgery in April. Although the versatile full-back, who penned fresh terms this summer, was expected to miss the start of the campaign, the 25-year-old has handed Pompey a key fitness boost. The defender could earn his first run-out in pre-season this Saturday against Wycombe, which will see him return to action ahead of schedule. | Habibur Rahman

12. Tayo Singerr
The youngster hasn’t featured for Mousinho’s side in pre-season so far due to a hamstring issue. The problem was sustained during the closing stages of his loan at Gosport last season and is expected to be sidelined for at least another three weeks. | Habibur Rahman
