While fans are eyeing more incomings, departures will be necessary in order to accommodate any further business. Luke Le Roux, Jacob Farrell and Ibane Bowat are all free to leave as Mousinho looks to free up space in his squad.

Elsewhere, the rumour mill continues to turn as gossip and speculation does the rounds across the Championship.

Here are the latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s second-tier rivals.

West Brom want Southampton man

West Brom are looking to avoid another relegation battle next term after securing their Championship status on the penultimate game last season.

The Baggies finished four points clear of the relegation zone after a revival under head coach James Morrison during the second half of the campaign.

The Hawthorns outfit are wasting no time in accelerating their business and have reportedly earmarked Southampton striker Cameron Archer as a potential option this summer.

That’s according to talkSPORTS’ Alex Crook, who has claimed West Brom are ‘interested’ in the 24-year-old, who could be allowed to depart St Mary’s during the window.

The England youth international has spent two years with Pompey’s south-coast rivals, following a £17m switch from Aston Villa in 2024.

Archer has netted just 11 goals in 76 outings for Southampton, which included four in a difficult Championship campaign last term.

The former Sheffield United and Preston North End loanee still has two years to run on his current St Mary’s terms, but could be given the green light to depart this summer as West Brom plot a potential move.

Pompey take on the Baggies on December 5 at Fratton Park in the first meeting between the two sides next season.

Quartet chase Ipswich Town man

A quartet of Championship clubs are on the trail of Ipswich Town full-back Harry Clarke, according to reports.

Transfer guru Ben Jacobs from talkSPORT has revealed Bristol City, Sheffield United, Preston North End and Stoke City are all monitoring the defender ahead of a potential swoop this summer.

The 25-year-old spent the second half of last term on loan at Charlton Athletic and looks set to depart Portman Road on a temporary basis in the current window following the Tractor Boys’ promotion to the Premier League.

Clarke’s situation appears to have alerted a number of Pompey’s rivals, who are all said to have registered an interest.

The full-back has previously had stints with Sheffield United and Stoke City, while it’s believed Bristol City are leading the pursuit.

He is entering the final 12 months of his current deal at Ipswich, where he’s amassed 67 appearances during a three-and-a-half-year stay.
