Portsmouth rivals face battle for in-demand Sunderland star as Premier League clubs eye Norwich City swoop

The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s Championship rivals.

Pompey’s transfer business has sprung into life in the past 24 hours following the arrivals of Marko Milovanovic and Daniel Bielica.

Bielica, meanwhile, has sealed his much-anticipated €600,000 move from DAC Breda, signing a three-year contract on the south coast.

The Blues’ summer spending looks set to continue, with teenage talent Luke Brooke-Smith poised to become the sixth new arrival this summer.

John Mousinho’s men are understood to have fended off interest from the United States, Italy and Spain to capture the highly-rated attacker.

As Pompey’s summer business ramps up, gossip and speculation amongst their Championship rivals remains rife.

Here are the latest transfer headlines from around the second tier.

Blackburn Rovers eye Sunderland swoop

Blackburn Rovers are beginning life under new boss Tony Mowbray, who was appointed as Michael O’Neill’s successor in June.

Rovers have already secured the signing of midfielder Moussa Baradji, with the 25-year-old sealing a £2m move from Swiss outfit Yverdon Sports.

Mowbray has now set his sights on raiding his former club Sunderland to strengthen his attacking department as he assembles his new Championship squad.

According to The Lancashire Telegraph, Browne is attracting interest from Blackburn as he braces for a potential exit this summer.

The report does, though, suggest a host of second-tier clubs are also tracking the 31-year-old, who is entering the final 12 months of his Stadium of Light terms, meaning a deal would be difficult to finalise at present.

The attacking midfielder’s stock is high after a brilliant campaign on loan with Middlesbrough, where he netted four goals and provided three assists in 42 outings.

Browne is currently on a pre-season camp with Regis Le Bris’ side in the United States, but it does remain highly unlikely that he will stay on Wearside this season.

During his two-year stay with the Black Cats, the Republic of Ireland international’s only goal came during a 3-1 triumph over Pompey at Fratton Park in August 2024.

Norwich City facing tough Premier League battle

Norwich City are facing a huge battle to keep hold of in-demand defender Kellen Fisher, according to reports.

TEAMtalk have claimed four Premier League clubs are monitoring the 21-year-old, who enjoyed a successful campaign at Carrow Road last term.

The report suggests Newcastle United, Brentford and Everton are all keen, while newly-promoted Hull City had a reported £5m bid turned down earlier this week.

However, the Canaries are determined to keep hold of the Carrow Road academy graduate, who still has two years to run on his current terms.

Last term, Fisher amassed 43 appearances in the Championship last term, which has seen his stock rise immensely in the past 12 months.

Mousinho’s men make the trip to Norfolk in October, with Phillipe Clement’s side hopeful of keeping hold of the 22-year-old.
