After securing their survival in the Championship, Pompey will take on bitter rivals Southampton next season following their Premier League relegation.
It will represent the first meeting between the two south coast sides since 2019, with the Saints running out 4-0 winners in the Carabao Cup at Fratton Park.
At the time, the two outfits were in complete contrast with the Blues under the guidance of Kenny Jackett in League One, while Ralf Hassenhuttle’s men were in the top flight.
However both sides will meet in the league for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign.
With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at every player to have featured in both the Pompey blue and the red and white of Southampton in the 21st century.
Here are the 15 men to have done so.

5. Jhon Viafara
Viafara started his career in England at Fratton Park, joining in July 2005 for £1.6m. However, his move failed to hit the heights expected and scored just one goal in 14 appearances. Following a stint in Spain on loan, Viafara completed a move to Southampton 12-months later where he spent two seasons. The 43-year-old is now behind bars after being jailed for 11-years in the USA in 2021 after being found guilty of trafficking £21m worth of cocaine into the United States from Colombia. | Getty Images

6. David Connolly
Connolly spent three years at Southampton, where he scored 17 times in 67 outings. After a six-month break following his St Mary’s release, the former Republic of Ireland international made the move along the M27 to sign for Pompey in January 2013. 7. Gregory Vignal
Following his release from Liverpool, Vignal arrived at Fratton Park on a free transfer in July 2005. The former French youth international spent just a season at PO4, featuring 18 times before returning to his home country 12 months later. The defender completed his comeback to England in 2007, joining Southampton on a season-long loan. Vignal scored four goals in 23 outings for the Saints in the Championship. | Getty Images

8. Ricardo Fuller
Fuller spent a season at Fratton Park after signing a two-year pay-as-you-play deal in 2004. The striker netted just one goal in 37 outings before making the switch across the M27 a year later. He fared much better in the Championship, scoring nine goals in 31 appearances for the Saints before departing in August 2006. | Getty Images
