After securing their survival in the Championship, Pompey will take on bitter rivals Southampton next season following their Premier League relegation.
It will represent the first meeting between the two south coast sides since 2019, with the Saints running out 4-0 winners in the Carabao Cup at Fratton Park.
At the time, the two outfits were in complete contrast with the Blues under the guidance of Kenny Jackett in League One, while Ralf Hassenhuttle’s men were in the top flight.
However both sides will meet in the league for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign.
With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at every player to have featured in both the Pompey blue and the red and white of Southampton in the 21st century.
Here are the 15 men to have done so.

13. Vincent Pericard
The striker was another key player during the Blues’ title-winning season, while on loan from Juventus. The Cameroon-born ace made his move permanent a year later but would only go on to amass 13 more appearances in the two seasons which followed. While at Stoke in 2008, Pericard spent two months on loan at Southampton but failed to score in any of his five games at St Mary’s. | Getty Images

14. Gavin Bazunu
The keeper is the most recent player to feature for both Pompey and Southampton. The young Republic of Ireland talent joined the Blues on loan under Danny Cowley in 2021, where he spent the season on loan from Manchester City. The Saints then snapped up Bazunu following the conclusion of his Fratton Park deal and still remains at St Mary’s. However, his time with the Saints has been fair from impressive, having made 78 appearances and spent last term on loan in Belgium with St Liege. | Getty Images

15. Dave Beasant
The famous FA Cup winning goalkeeper with Wimbledon joined Southampton in November 1993 and had a successful four year stay at The Dell, where he amassed 108 appearances between the sticks. The keeper joined Pompey in 2001 as the late Aaron Flahavon’s replacement. Beasant made 28 appearances during the 2001-02 campaign for the Blues. | Getty Images

16. Scott Hiley
Hiley spent a year-and-a-half at St Mary’s with the Saints before joining the Blues in December 1999. Hiley was awarded player of the season during his first full season at Fratton Park. In total, he amassed 80 appearances for the Blues before joining Exeter in September 2002. | Getty Images
