The 2025 summer transfer window is officially under way, with Pompey expected to be busy throughout as they prepare for their second-successive Championship campaign.
Although John Mousinho isn’t expecting a huge influx of signings, there will be some changes to his squad with a number of departures on the cards with some contracted figures.
With the shutters coming up slightly later on July 1 for last summer’s window, Josh Murphy was the first addition after he completed a free transfer from Oxford United.
And that was a sign of things to come at PO4, with 14 new faces coming through the doors as Pompey headed into their first Championship campaign in 12 years.
But how did those new arrivals fare?
Well, we’ve graded every 2024 summer signing completed by the Blues to see which lessons could be learned heading into this window.

9. Harvey Blair
Joining from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee in August, Blair featured in seven successive games before dropping out of the squad completely in mid-October. The young winger worked his way back into contention in the final weeks of the season and scored in his first start for six months against Sheffield Wednesday in April. Showed glimpses of what he can do but is clearly work in progress. Signing rated: 6/10. | Jason Brown/ProSportsImages

10. Abdoulaye Kamara
Arrived with a lot of excitement and expectation after making a permanent switch from Borussia Dortmund. After five appearances in the Championship, Kamara was last seen in a starting XI in January as he lined-up in the Blues’ 2-0 defeat to Wycombe in the FA Cup. A massively disappointing maiden campaign at Fratton Park and it will be interesting to see Mousinho’s plans for the midfielder. Signing rated: 4/10. Photo: Jason Brown

11. Nicolas Schmid
The keeper arrived relatively unknown from Austrian outfit BW Linz last August. Although Norris was Pompey’s number one for the first weeks of the season, Schmid would then come in following the Blues’ 6-1 defeat to Stoke in December. The shot-stopper impressed in his 36 appearances for Mousinho’s men, where he made a number of crucial saves in Pompey’s survival battle. He has since been called-up to the Austria squad for the first time. Signing rated: 8/10. | National World
12. Mark O’Mahony
A day before his Fratton Park signing, the striker scored for Brighton in the Carabao Cup against Crawley - prompting plenty of excitement among the Fratton faithful. He netted twice in his first three starts for the Blues, but appearances dried up following Colby Bishop’s return. The Seagulls loanee missed two months of the season with a side strain but scored on his return against Oxford in February. O’Mahony featured just three further times for Pompey before returning to the Amex Stadium. Signing rated: 6/10. | Jason Brown/ProSportsImages
