The 17 included players whose contracts weren’t renewed, loanees returning to their parent clubs and assets attracting transfer fees for their sale.
Now, six months on, we look at how those players have fared in footballing life after Fratton Park...

9. Adil Aouchiche - Aberdeen
(28 games, 3 goals) Unlike former Pompey team-mate Kusini Yengi, who also joined Aberdeen in the summer, the Sunderland loanee is making a favourable impression in the Scottish Premiership. He has made every Dons squad this season, being unused off the bench in just two of them, while has started 25 times in all competitions. Although Aouchiche was replaced after 35 minutes in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Falkirk, which proved to be boss Jimmy Thelin’s last match in charge as he paid the price for Aberdeen’s disappointing position of eighth. 10. Christian Saydee - Wigan
(26 games, two goals) Saydee made an instant impact after joining Wigan in June, with supporters immediately taking the powerful striker to their hearts. Encouragingly, he also scored twice in his opening eight appearances for the League One club, although is now without a goal since netting in a 1-1 draw with Stockport on August 30. Frustratingly, it has been 18 games since he last found the back of the net, yet Saydee continues to largely be a first-team regular, starting 18 of their Championship matches so far this season. Although he has found himself on the bench in the last three games, featuring for nine minutes in Sunday’s 1-0 loss at Cardiff which leaves them 15th in the table. Photo: Gary Oakley

11. Paddy Lane - Reading
(17 games, 1 goal) The popular winger has struggled to impress Reading supporters, who have not been too complimentary since his July 2025 move from Fratton Park. With one goal from his opening 17 matches, he has subsequently been sidelined since the start of November with a tendon injury. The former Fleetwood man has now missed their last nine fixtures, with boss Leam Richardson recently admitting the problem was giving cause for concern, with an injection now likely to speed up his recovery. 12. Isaac Hayden - QPR
(13 games, 0 goals) After joining QPR on a free transfer with the season already underway, the midfielder has struggled to break into their starting XI so far. Although he lined up against Norwich on New Year’s Day, it represented Hayden’s first start in two months. It also ended in a 2-1 defeat for Rangers. Instead, the former Newcastle man has been a regular on the bench, including being introduced in the 71st minute against Pompey in the recent draw. Photo: Jason Brown
