The 17 included players whose contracts weren’t renewed, loanees returning to their parent clubs and assets attracting transfer fees for their sale.
Now, six months on, we look at how those players have fared in footballing life after Fratton Park...

17. Tom McIntyre - Bradford
(11 games, 0 goals) A transfer deadline loan move to Bradford offered the defender a much-needed chance of first-team football, having fallen out of favour at Fratton Park. However, McIntyre has mainly served as a back-up, standing in whenever one of the Bantams’ centre-halves have been unavailable, with three league starts to date. Although a squad regular, he has featured for just one minute over the last six matches for a team which is settled and riding high in third place in League One. Photo: Mike Hewitt

18. Abdoulaye Kamara - Saarbrucken
(11 games, 1 goal) After having his Pompey contract cancelled by mutual consent on transfer deadline day in September, the midfielder moved to German third-tier side Saarbrucken. They are presently 15th in 3. Liga, with Kamara having started seven of their matches upon his return to German football, having previously represented Borussia Dortmund II. Photo: Jason Brown
