The Blues’ League One promotion push has suffered a blow in their past two games, losing to rivals Hull and Lincoln.
With Pompey harbouring ambitions of a top-two finish, Kenny Jackett must find a way of delivering a result at an Addicks side also hoping to go up automatically.
The boss will be forced to make one change from the Lincoln defeat, with Jack Whatmough suspended for three games after receiving a red card.
But there could be temptation from Jackett to play some of his January recruits from the outset.
George Byers and Charlie Daniels both came off the bench against the Imps and there is growing clamour from sections of supporters for the pair to be given a chance.
Meanwhile, some fans also want to see Jordy Hiwula be given a crack after being left out of the past two squads.

14. Sub 3 - Charlie Daniels
Plenty of supporters want to see the ex-Bournemouth man start but he knows he's got to dislodge vice-skipper Lee Brown. May come off the bench again, especially if Pompey are chasing a goal. Photo: PinPeP

15. Sub 4 - George Byers
The Swansea man will be determined to win a starting spot. However, his outing off the bench against Lincoln was only his second appearance of the season and he may need a few more cameos before featuring from the outset. Photo: PinPeP

The on-loan Spurs man has plenty of competition for a starting place in midfield but will be enjoying around a first-team squad regularly. Photo: PinPeP
