But who are the players who’ve shone brightest so far? And who are the men who have failed to come up to scratch to date?
Blues writer Jordan Cross has assessed John Mousinho’s squad, given his view on their performances and rated their efforts to this point in the campaign.

17. Ben Stevenson - 7
Up there as probably the most unfortunate member of the Pompey squad. Has performed decently in his six games to date and grabbed himself a goal, but finds himself behind Joe Morrell, Marlon Pack, Alex Robertson and Terry Devlin in the midfield pecking order. Photo: Jason Brown

18. Tom Lowery - 6
Pompey woe continues for the midfielder who started the opening game against Bristol Rovers and had been impressing before injury struck. Has shown his potential at Fratton - now has to convince he can stay fit. Photo: Jason Brown

19. Harry Jewitt-White - 7
Only one game to go on, but it was sturdy showing at Orient where he was denied a maiden Pompey finish by Christian Saydee taking a shot on when the goal was gaping for the Hayling lad. Impressed when moved to right-back, so much so John Mousinho thinks the academy graduate could have a future there. Photo: Jason Brown

20. Terry Devlin - 7
Entered the fray in recent weeks with two league starts and and a full FA Cup appearance under his belt. Delivering the winner on his full League One bow at Reading will be a moment the Northern Ireland will never forget. Has looked raw at times, but there's been enough glimpses of ability to see why he's valued for his forward-thinking running. Photo: Jason Brown
