But who are the players who’ve shone brightest so far? And who are the men who have failed to come up to scratch to date?
Blues writer Jordan Cross has assessed John Mousinho’s squad, given his view on their performances and rated their efforts to this point in the campaign.

13. Alex Robertson - 8
An absolute joy to watch as his season catches fire in spectacular fashion, culminating in an awe-inspiring display against Charlton Athletic last time out. Has taken time to adjust to the physicality of League One but is the full midfield package. Enjoy him while we've got him, Pompey fans. Photo: Jason Brown

14. Tino Anjorin - 6
Had huge hopes placed upon him which have gone unfulfilled thanks to Pompey building up the Chelsea loanee slowly after injury issues - only for his hamstring to go at Chesterfield. There's been more than a few flashes of quality, but the problems he's faced means there can't be too many expectations placed on the attacking talent now after what's happened to date. 15. Marlon Pack - 8
What a boost the captain's impending return will be. Remains Pompey's heartbeat with his form at a high level, before the knee setback at Wigan. Will come back into a midfield which has been performing impressively, however, though that could free up Alex Robertson to wreak havoc further forward. Photo: Jason Brown

16. Joe Morrell - 8
Emerging more powerfully than every as a leader this term with his consistency unsurpassed in John Mousinho's ranks. The captain's armband seems to have taken his game to another level in Marlon Pack's absent with a new high watermark set in recent weeks. Photo: Jason Brown
