M27 Junction 10: A32 weekend road closures called off but drivers warned about the next week

Overnight road closures for roadworks have been rescheduled because of a burst water main

Road closures that were due to affect a junction of the M27 have been pushed back because of a burst water main on the diversion route.

The plan was for full overnight closures on the A32, which would see Junction 10 of the motorway closed. This is part of the major project to upgrade the junction in advance of the new town of Welborne being built, just to the north of the motorway.

Now, however, the A32 will remain open but with two-way traffic lights on the A32 on Saturday and Sunday, which will go up at 8pm and be taken down at 6am, and the same will happen on Monday, May 18.

The slip roads on to and off the motorway will be closed, and people heading south and then eastbound to Portsmouth will need to divert through Fareham, past Broadcut on Wallington Way, and join the M27 at Junction 11, the main Fareham junction.

People heading west, who then want to go north up the A32 towards Wickham, will need to do that too the other way - come off at Junction 11, take Wallington Way past Broadcut and Sainsbury’s, then continue on the Wickham road to pass under the M27 at Junction 10.

There is another programme of overnight closures from Monday to Sunday of the coming week, in which the A32 will be shut between the Knowle roundabout and the North Hill roundabout in Fareham, which include the motorway on-slip (Portsmouth-bound) and off-slip (Wickham-bound) roads.

These closures are between 8pm and 6am. This phase of the work is to connect new roads to the Broadway roundabout layout.
