Meanwhile locals reported heavy traffic in the area after a crash nearby. One person posted on The News’ social media: “Anyone know what is happening at Farlington Marshes? Severe traffic congestion westbound from A3M slip joining A27 and also roundabout on Eastern road congested, mainly from selfish drivers blocking exits so when the lights change drives you cannot move.

“Two fire incident vehicles, two ambulance incident vehicles, rescue (vehicle) and police all in attendance and parked on the road, narrowing roundabout access. Now a two car accident on A27 approach in lane 3, police motorbike in attendance. Pretty chaotic out there, an area to avoid on your journey tonight.”
