Amparo Lounge in Whiteley Shopping Centre to open next week
New lounge has created 30 jobs in the community
A new café-bar is opening in Whiteley next week promising a warm and laid-back space to catch up with friends and family.
The Amparo Lounge was initially earmarked for an opening in July but will now welcome its first customers when it opens on Wednesday, June 17.
The eatery has taken over the old Frankie & Benny’s site in the shopping centre and “completely transformed” it with patterned wallpapers, murals, colourful tiling, oversized vintage sofas and upholstered lounge chairs all featuring along with an eclectic mix of artwork.
Donna Mudkins, general manager of Amparo Lounge, said: “With opening day now just around the corner, we’re delighted to be preparing to welcome the community into Amparo Lounge. The response already has been fantastic, and we can’t wait to welcome shoppers and locals in to make this their new favourite place for great food, drinks and a brilliant atmosphere.”
Owned by Loungers, a West Country café-bar group, Amparo Lounge will welcome guests from morning through to late evening with an all-day menu. From coffee to brunch and relaxed dinner and drinks, the eatery promises to be a warm laid-back space which can be a home-from-home for customers.
The menu will feature everything from brunch, tapas, toasties and salads to burgers, tacos, noodles and fried chicken. It also has a dedicated vegan and gluten‑free menus to ensure guests with dietary requirements have plenty of choice.
Mia Gordon, centre director at Whiteley, commented: “We’re excited for Amparo Lounge to open its doors here at Whiteley this month. It’s a brilliant addition to our growing food and drink offer and we’ve no doubt it’ll be a hit with visitors of all ages.
“Whether people are stopping for breakfast before shopping, meeting friends for lunch or winding down with dinner and drinks, Amparo Lounge will add another great reason to spend time at Whiteley and enjoy everything the centre has to offer.”
Amparo Lounge joins a number of Loungers eateries in the area including the Panero Lounge in Southsea, the Vito Lounge in Fareham, and the Clavio Lounge in Petersfield.
