Portsmouth shop Ding Dong to open sister store Paloma in Cascades Shopping Centre selling a range of women's clothing

Portsmouth business’ expansion continues

Having opened in Portsmouth near the end of 2025, homeware store Ding Dong is continuing to grow at pace.

At the beginning of this year they expanded into the first floor of their unit in Cascades Shopping Centre to showcase new furniture products, and now co-owners Carl Marodeen and Danny Elsom are preparing to open a sister store.

Paloma will be opening in the Cascades unit formerly occupied by The Body Shop and will stock a range of women’s clothing. The idea came about after they decided to stock a small range of clothing at their Ding Dong store last month.

Carl said: “We have been stocking some woman’s clothing at Ding Dong and they have been flying out. The old Body Shop store has been closed for a long time so we approached Cascades about taking it on for six months and we hope to open at the end of June or early July.

“We have always wanted to expand and ultimately want a dozen or so shops but you have to get the formula right. The clothes are working well for us so we thought lets give it a go for six months and we can manage the two shops in the same centre.”

There is no confirmed opening date for Paloma as of yet with Carl expecting to have the keys to the unit in the next couple of weeks. Although the lease is only for an initial six months, Carl and Danny hope to get enough footfall to make the store a permanent fixture in the shopping centre

Carl said: “If it works hopefully we will extend the lease further and make it a permanent store.”
