Chance for a family to meet Pudsey at the BBC offices in charity auction

If you and your family would like to meet Pudsey at the BBC offices in Salford, you can bid for this fantastic prize in a charity auction, which closes at 9pm on BBC Children in Need Day (Friday 13th November). A lucky family will spend time with Pudsey and members of the BBC Children in Need team and will have a day to remember.

Hampshire fundraiser, Amy Wright has organised the charity auction and she has been fundraising for the charity for 36 years - she won the Sir Terry Wogan BBC Children in Need Fundraiser of the Year Award for her passion for fundraising and helping children in need. She was born with cerebral palsy and learning difficulties and has difficulty walking but she has not let anything stop her from fundraising for the charity she loves.

This is her first online auction and there are some lovely, exclusive prizes kindly donated by Pudsey HQ and BBC Children in Need. Local and national businesses have donated too and you can bid for other exclusive items, including a day training with the police dogs and the Dog Support Unit from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and Thames Valley Police, a private yacht experience aboard Big Bear with lunch in the Solent, and a bottle of whisky signed by the Speaker of the House of Commons.

If you fancy a walking tour in London, you can place a bid and Fiona, Countess of Carnarvon - the real owner of Downton Abbey – has kindly donated two signed books about the Egyptian Exhibition at Highclere Castle, telling the story of the 5th Earl’s discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. You can choose from luxury spa days, golf vouchers, surf lessons, beauty and shopping vouchers, paintings, Afternoon Teas and much more. Donors include Lime Wood Hotel, Solent Hotel & Spa, Peter Cooper Motor Group, The Wave - Bristol, local artists, Kimbridge Barn, Stanbridge Earls, Exbury Gardens and Blackhill Pottery.

Amy said, “I’m so excited about my Children in Need auction! I’ve never done anything like this before, so it’s going to be really exciting to see how it goes. So many amazing people and businesses have been really kind and donated some fantastic auction prizes. There are lots of different things to bid for, so hopefully there’ll be something for everyone. Fundraising can be hard work, but I absolutely love doing it because I know the money helps children who really need it — just like it did for me.

Being recognised for all my fundraising over the years with the Sir Terry Wogan Award was such a special moment for me, and it has made me even more determined to keep raising money to help others. I’m not planning to stop anytime soon and my motto is: “I will never stop!”

Her Mum, Helen told us, “In the early days, Amy collected money for Pudsey in her bucket. Since then, she has swum, organised a film night at college, baked, held coffee mornings, cycled on an exercise bike and even disco-danced for an incredible 31 hours! Other fundraising adventures include organising a fashion show and pushing a giant Pudsey Bear in her wheelchair.

This year, she is taking on a brand-new challenge - holding her very first auction and we want to thank everyone who has donated prizes and Elliotts Bros Builders Merchants, Southampton and loyal supporters, Stuart and Lavinia Hemingway for helping with the auction set up costs.

Amy’s story is one of courage, determination, generosity and an extraordinary belief in the power of making a difference and I’m so proud of her. Supporting her auction will mean the world to her and I can’t wait to see her face when we see how much money is raised on Children in Need Day - and Friday 13th November could be a lucky day for some if they have a winning bid!”

Amy would love to raise £13,000 to match the amount she has raised over the past five years and she will be collecting money in her Pudsey bucket at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, near Romsey from 11am – 3pm on Friday 13th November.
