I took my nephew to Butlin's Bognor for his first day visit - and he loved every minute
Although the summer holidays are over, I can’t resist a day at Butlin’s Bognor Regis - and my nephew’s first trip went down a treat.
Growing up a stone’s throw from Butlin’s Bognor only meant one thing - that it was a firm favourite of mine, with the swimming pool my most favoured attraction on site.

When I was a teenager, my older brother got a job at the resort where he lived in employee housing - not only did it mean more space in our family home, but visiting was so much fun because we could spend the day trying out everything.
Now, many years later I knew I had to take my 7-year-old nephew to get his first glimpse at the wonderful memories that can be made at Butlin’s - and needless to say, he loved it.
The first stop on his list was Splash where we tried out the rapids which received mixed reactions from Jack, who held my hand very tight the whole way. He then had a blast on the little slides, and there was nothing better than seeing the joy on his little face as he went down by himself.

It then took a bit of convincing to get Jack on one of the bigger slides, but he found the courage and we went together. Shrieks of laughter echoed down the slide as we splashed and swirled down the winding tube.
After working up an appetite, lunch was next on the agenda. A BLT was on the menu for Jack and a chicken burger for me, both delicious, and both just enough to give us a boost for the next activity.
The order of the afternoon was: Funfair, park, more funfair, go karts and the arcade.
From the dodgems to the waltzer to the carousel and then the rockin tug, we tried them and by 3pm, I had an exhausted small person who was desperate to squeeze in the go karts and the arcade before heading home.
The go karts went down a storm and I must say, you get a decent amount of time on them which is always a bonus. As a car fanatic, Jack loved every second of the driving experience, and I think it was on par with the swimming pool.
One content little boy and a fabulous day later, and we were ready to make our way home - and he’s already super excited for the next time we can visit Butlin’s for the day.
The popular £1 day pass promotion is back between September 2 and November 20 from Tuesday to Thursday on Showtime term-time midweeks in Bognor Regis. The deal was such a success the first and second time round that the resort is launching it again, meaning up to 4 children can visit for £1 with one full-paying adult.
