From Comic Con to the kite festival, from the Great South Run to Beach Dubbin, there are plenty to choose from - with the city also expected to play its part in commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Many more dates will be added to our calendars in the coming months as more and more event details are confirmed, but here are some of the biggest and best events we are most looking forward to this year:

5. Portsmouth Pride
Taking place on Southsea Common on June 7, Portsmouth Pride is a free event which promotes inclusiveness as well as a great day out. And 2025 is extra special as the city is hosting UK Pride. Southsea Common will host two stages of entertainment at the free event, as well as more than 100 stalls, local food and drink, funfair as well as the colourful parade. Other events will also be taking place throughout the year. More information at portsmouthpride.co.uk and https://ukpride.portsmouthpride.org.uk/home. Photo: Marcin Jedrysiak

6. Southwick Revival
The clock will be turned back to the 1940s on June 7 and 8 when the fabulous Southwick Revival makes a return. This year's event coincides with the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE Day) which will give the event added poignancy. 8. Chilli and Gin Festival
The two-day event at Fort Purbrook on June 28 and 29 will be 'hot, hot, hot' with crowds enjoying an array of hot sauces, chillies, cookery demonstrations, artisan gins and family activities, across both days. There will also be a chilli eating competition for those brave enough to try. Entertainment will be provided by a variety of live music acts including their resident DJ.
