Sean Raggett grabbed two – the second a stunner – while Terry Devlin also netted, but they should have been well out of sight against the 10-man Fulham Under-21s.
The brilliance of goalkeeper Alex Borto and poor finishing prevented them bagging many more, nonetheless it was still a highly-encouraging attacking display.
Here are our Pompey player ratings from an entertaining game...

9. Abu Kamara - 7
Handed the number 10 role and could easily have claimed a hat-trick had it not been for poor finishing in excellent areas. Still movement and energy was encouraging and can take plenty from his performance. Photo: Jason Brown

10. Koby Mottoh - 7
Started strongly and in the opening 20 minutes headed over and then sent a right-footed shot at the keeper. Operating on the left flank, the youngster didn’t look overawed and was also a threat with his pace and directness. Photo: Jason Brown

11. Christian Saydee - 7
(Replaced by Anthony Scully on 62 minutes) Have to feel for him as he searches for his maiden Pompey goal. Headed one against the bar and another appeared destined for the net until taking the slightest of deflections wide. Still, another powerful performance as he continues to impress. 12. Paddy Lane - 7
(Replaced by Alex Robertson on 62 minutes) First start of the season following injury and very lively, particularly in the first half. Offered plenty of threat from the right flank and perhaps should also have helped himself to a goal. Photo: Jason Brown
