Sporting director Rich Hughes has admitted at least nine new arrivals will walk through the Fratton Park doors in the coming months has he and head coach John Mousinho look to put their stamp on the current first team.
The aim will be to construct a squad that’s capable of finally ending what will be seven consecutive seasons in League One.
So expectations will be high when business can officially be completed upon the window opening on June 10.
But apart from a host of new names calling Fratton Park home, what else has been said in the build-up to this summer?
Well, we’ve taken a look back at our recent conversations with the Blues’ key recruitment people to see actually what lies await.
Understandably, a range of key topics have been discussed as we’ve sought greater insight into Pompey’s plans.
Here’s a recap of what’s been said on those core issues.

9. Gavin Whyte
John Mousinho: ‘Gavin is out of contact and it’s one we’ve spoken about that we said would be of interest to us. Again, once players come back from their various holidays it’s a conversation we may have. We’re not entirely sure what Gavin’s intentions are and where he sees himself, but if that is something that becomes apparent that we might be able to do then I think we would certainly look at it with a bit of seriousness.’ Photo: Charles McQuillan

10. Di'Shon Bernard
John Mousinho: ‘We’re not sure (what’s happening with Bernard). Manchester United have an option, so we’re waiting to see what Manchester United are going to do. That’s why there’s a bit of a delay on deciding what we do with Di’Shon. I think if Manchester United take an option we will see what their intentions for him are next season. If they don’t take up the option and he’s on a free, then it becomes an entirely different conversation.’ Photo: Jason Brown

11. Signing Matt Macey
John Mousinho: ‘Matt has another year at Luton, so we’ll have to see what they say. I think that’s probably going to be one that won’t develop until the end of May because they are involved in the play-offs. As you’d expect, Luton aren’t sorting things for next season yet. So Matt will go back there and we’ll keep that conversation open. He has been excellent for us, kept a lot of clean sheets, made some really, really good saves, and been very solid. From what I hear, he’s probably a bit of a fans’ favourite in terms of loans coming in and impressing. Matt has been a big part of what we’ve done over the last few months and, probably one of the downsides of those positive performances, is there might be more suitors. We know that. Maybe one of those is Luton, they might now want to keep him as well.’ Photo: Jason Brown

12. Two new goalkeepers?
Rich Hughes: ‘Potentially we will sign two goalkeepers this summer. Definitely one, potentially two. We know we need two senior goalkeepers to be affecting the team-sheet next year. Obviously Matt Macey returning to Luton is one conversation as we look to bring in another goalkeeper. We also have Josh and Toby under contract next year and I think one or both may need to play and, if that’s the case, we’ll have to recruit accordingly and get in another.’ Photo: Jason Brown
