But beyond the 14 signings Danny Cowley made, there was also a huge number of players linked with a move to Fratton Park who ended up elsewhere.
We’ve steered clear of the ridiculous number of triallists who came into the club when they returned to training – otherwise the list would’ve been through the roof...

9. Viv Solomon-Otabor
The former loanee, who made 10 appearances for Pompey in 2019, was linked with Danny Cowley's men after leaving Wigan at the end of last season. Charlton, Sunderland and Pompey battled it out for the winger, but Otabor is now a free agent after failing to find a club during the transfer window. Photo: Joe Pepler

10. Josh Sims
The former Doncaster Rovers loanee was released by Southampton in the summer and reports suggested Pompey were willing to sign the winger. No deal materialised, however, and the 24-year-old is still without a club. Photo: Getty

11. Harry Anderson
Pompey were interested in former Lincoln captain Harry Anderson in July and Cowley was considering a move to link up with the winger he had worked with at Lincoln and non-league Braintree. With Anderson not being top priority on Cowley's list, the 24-year-old signed a two-year deal at Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers where he has made eight appearances this season. Photo: Ashley Allen

12. Jorge Grant
Grante was linked with Pompey in May because of the Danny Cowley connection. However, there was no confirmed interest in the former Nottingham Forest midfielder but in July his Lincoln release clause was activated by Championship new boys Peterborough, where he has made five appearances so far this season.
