Already, 13 of Pompey’s third-tier rivals have revealed their retained lists ahead of the transfer window officially opening on June 10.
And as speculation grows about potential summer deals, there has been plenty of transfer talk involving League One club’s most prized assets.
The Blues themselves are at risk of losing one of their star men this summer, with Marcus Harness being touted with a move to Championship outfit Swansea.
They’ve also already lost keeper Gavin Bazunu, who made such an impact during his season-long loan from Manchester City.
Given that, we’ve taken a look at the top 20 third-tier aces from this season who could be on the move during the window.
Here’s what we found.

17. Ben Thompson - Gillingham
The ex-Pompey favourite is again available for a return to Fratton Park after being released from Gillingham. Yet, a move will prove unlikely this summer with Danny Cowley opting to look elsewhere. Following his January switch to Priestfield, the 26-year-old amassed 17 appearances for Neil Harris’ side but he was not enough to avoid relegation for the Gills. Photo: Henry Browne

18. Sam Morsy - Ipswich
After a successful spell at Wigan with Paul Cook, the Egypt international linked up with his former boss at Ipswich last summer. The midfielder bagged three goals in 34 outings last term and his interest has grown again. Recent reports claim the 30-year-old is wanted by former coach Leam Richardson at the Latics and could depart Portman Road after just 12 months. Photo: Ashley Allen

19. Dan Neil - Sunderland
The young midfielder shone for Sunderland last term - amassing 54 outings for the Black Cats. After being trusted by Lee Johnson and Alex Neil, the Wearsiders could be forced to cash in on the 20-year-old should they fail to reach the Championship following strong interest from Burnley. 20. Freddie Ladapo - Rotherham
The striker handed in a transfer request in January but failed to find a move away from the New York Stadium. But with his contract now coming to an end, the Millers decided not to take up the 29-year-old’s option and is looking for a move elsewhere. Reports suggest MK Dons and Hull are both interest in the ‘want away’ forward this summer. Photo: Julian Finney
