That sees 10 of the Blues’ current squad without a deal for next season, along with their five loan signings; Matt Macey, Di’Shon Bernard, Dane Scarlett, Owen Dale and Joe Pigott.
John Mousinho has revealed it is too early to earmark playing positions for a summer overhaul and is still assessing his side ahead of potential fresh summer terms for their out-of-contract men.
With plenty of work to be done to improve ahead of next season, where would the head coach need to strengthen in the market?
Here’s how Pompey’s starting XI and bench would look based on contracted players beyond the summer.

9. RW - Reeco Hackett
Hackett has been limited to just four outings in Mousinho’s nine games. So far under the new head coach, Owen Dale has been the preferred option at right-wing, with the 25-year-old starting just twice in that time. Photo: Graham Hunt

10. LW - Paddy Lane
Lane has had a tough start to life at Fratton Park, but that could be due to the difficulties of his time with Scott Brown at Fleetwood. He didn’t just have Premier League interest in him for no reason last summer, sp there is plenty more to come from the forward and he can play a vital role in attack for the Blues next season. 11. ST - Colby Bishop
The striker has started every game in attack under Mousinho and appears to fit his style as an out-and-out front man. Three goals to his tally since the head coach has arrived has perfectly contributed to his total of 17 for the season in all competitions. Photo: Barry Zee

12. SUB - Zak Swanson
The right-back has impressed since his summer switch from Arsenal, providing excellent cover during Rafferty’s spell on the sidelines. He’ll be providing plenty of competition with the former Preston for a place in the starting XI next term. Photo: Jason Brown
