That sees 10 of the Blues’ current squad without a deal for next season, along with their five loan signings; Matt Macey, Di’Shon Bernard, Dane Scarlett, Owen Dale and Joe Pigott.
John Mousinho has revealed it is too early to earmark playing positions for a summer overhaul and is still assessing his side ahead of potential fresh summer terms for their out-of-contract men.
With plenty of work to be done to improve ahead of next season, where would the head coach need to strengthen in the market?
Here’s how Pompey’s starting XI and bench would look based on contracted players beyond the summer.

5. LB - Denver Hume
Hume has played just 15 minutes of football under Mousinho, with Ogilvie favoured at left-back so far. The defender’s stay at Fratton Park has been far from plain sailing, making 28 appearances since his move from Sunderland in January 2022. Photo: Graham Hunt

6. CM - Marlon Pack
The 31-year-old has thrived under Mousinho and has excelled playing as a holding midfielder in front of the central defenders. He’s played every game under the new head coach when he’s fit and is very much in the Blues boss’ plans for next season. Photo: Jason Brown

7. CM - Joe Morrell
Morrell is getting better and better every time he appears for Pompey. He’s consistently impressed since the head coach’s arrival in January and has missed just one game through suspension. There's no denying he will play a major role in the centre of the park next season. Photo: Jason Brown

8. CM - Tom Lowery
The Fratton faithful are yet to see the best of Lowery after a hamstring injury has limited him to just 11 appearances and has played just once in five months. There’s plenty of excitement from both Mousinho and the fans to see the midfielder back in action for the Blues. Photo: Jason Brown
