It has been an exile which has brought plenty of heartache and even threats to the Blues’ very existence, yet also plenty of wonderful moments which are still savoured to this very day.
So here’s a list of the 15 most memorable Pompey matches since leaving the Championship – in no particular order...

13. Cambridge United 2 Pompey 6 (February 21, 2015)
During a period when there was little to cheer regarding Pompey, particularly on their travels, this Matt Tubbs-inspired romp stood out. The striker bagged a magnificent hat-trick, with Jed Wallace, Paul Robinson and Ryan Taylor the others among the goals, while Wallace also claimed a staggering four assists. Although the Blues would win just one more away match in the remainder of a disappointing season. Picture: Joe Pepler Photo: Joe Pepler

14. Pompey 3 Barnsley 2 (April 16, 2024)
Trailing 2-1 to Barnsley with seven minutes remaining, it appeared the promotion and title champagne would have to remain on ice a little longer. Then, as ever with John Mousinho's remarkable side, they rallied to find a way to win. Firstly substitute Colby Bishop levelled from the penalty spot, then Conor Shaughnessy headed home Marlon Pack's corner in the 89th minute to claim the League One crown in dramatic fashion. 15. Crawley 0 Pompey 2 (March 7, 2017)
Following an awful home defeat to Crewe which left Paul Cook questioning his position as Pompey boss, the Blues were in desperate need of a positive reaction. What followed by a 2-0 success at Crawley, with Christian Burgess and Kyle Bennett netting. It sparked the birth of the 'On our way' song - and Pompey subsequently won 10 of their final 12 fixtures to claim the League Two title. Picture: Joe Pepler Photo: Joe Pepler
