What a season it's been for Pompey so far and John Mousinho's squad.
It's been a campaign full of impressive performances for so many different reasons, as players live up to their billing, surprise packages emerge and assets grow.
But who are the players who have shone brightest so far? And who is finding form at just the right moment in the campaigh?
Pompey writer Jordan Cross has given his personal view of John Mousinho's squad with a rating out of 10 (players need to have made at least five appearances to feature).
25. Ben Stevenson - 6
The tag of Pompey’s most unfortunate player has to sit with the midfielder who hasn’t had a bad game since arriving from Forest Green, yet has started just once in the league due to the form of others. May yet be important as he fights back from injury amid a lack of central options at present. | Jason Brown/ProSportsImages
26. Zak Swanson - 8
Pompey’s best player ‘90 per cent of the time’ according to John Mousinho. A big statement but not particularly an exaggeration with the former Arsenal man often a standout when given a start. Injuries and the form of Joe Rafferty factors in not having more football, but the manner in which he performed amid personal family loss will not be forgotten. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

27. Ryley Towler - 6
Not been able to kick on in this season in the manner everyone had hoped for - but that’s less about the popular figure’s form and more about the displays of others. Yes, still has development to make in his defending but the 21-year-old’s quality and potential remains clear. Photo: Jason Brown

28. Gavin Whyte - 5
No hiding from the fact his time at Pompey so far has been a disappointment. The Northern Ireland international arrived with a marquee billing he didn’t ask for, yet hasn’t been able to match up to so far. Seen flashes against likes of Orient and Bolton, but immediate task is now finding a place in Mousinho’s squad. Photo: Jason Brown
