Pompey were undone by three goals in seven minutes as they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by West Ham on the opening day of the season.
The Blues led through Adrian Segecic’s deflected 33rd-minute strike heading towards half-time, only for a late collapse to turn the match on its head.
The Hammers netted twice in the final few minutes of the half, through Valentin Castellanos and Jarrod Bowen, to go in at the break with a 2-1 advantage.
Then, on 50 minutes, Castellanos grabbed his second with a header from Bowen’s cross to seal a 3-1 success for the Hammers.
And here are our Pompey player ratings...

9. Ebou Adams - 6
Operated in the number 10 role for the first time since QPR, providing plenty of pressuring power and physicality. Such a competitor and interesting moment when he stood eyeballing Pablo before second-half kick-off. | Jason Brown/Portmsouth FC

10. Luke Brooke-Smith - 5
(Replaced by Thomas Waddingham on 52 mins) Teenager was handed his debut in English football, occupying the left wing. One decent run in the first half, only to be tackled by Walker-Peters as he shaped to cross. Tough baptism. | Jason Brown

11. Adrian Segecic - 7
Always has a bit of magic about him. A deflected shot opened the scoring, but you have to admire technique and confidence to attempt a left-footed half-volley from 25-yards out. Had some good moments. | Stephen Flynn/ProSportsImages

12. Colby Bishop - 5
(Replaced by John Swift on 82 mins) Harshly pulled up for a foul on Mavropanos when clean through after six minutes. Just failed to get on the end of one Brooke-Smith cross from the left in second half. Battled away but with little goal threat. | Stephen Flynn/ProSportsImages
