Pompey were undone by three goals in seven minutes as they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by West Ham on the opening day of the season.
The Blues led through Adrian Segecic’s deflected 33rd-minute strike heading towards half-time, only for a late collapse to turn the match on its head.
The Hammers netted twice in the final few minutes of the half, through Valentin Castellanos and Jarrod Bowen, to go in at the break with a 2-1 advantage.
Then, on 50 minutes, Castellanos grabbed his second with a header from Bowen’s cross to seal a 3-1 success for the Hammers.
And here are our Pompey player ratings...

5. Regan Poole - 6
Was badly exposed by Kante down the right in the build up for the first goal as West Ham got themselves back into the game. Otherwise a dogged display. | Simon Roe/ProSportsImages

6. Zak Swanson - 6
(Replaced by Odin Bailey on 60 mins) Lined up at left-back and put in a solid showing, full of commitment and heart. On the receiving end of a really poor Alvarez tackle which earned the West Ham man a booking. | Dan Minto/ProSportsImages

7. Luke Le Roux - 6
(Replaced by Eoin Kenny on 60 mins) Asked to anchor Pompey’s midfield and set about it with his usual enthusiasm and no-nonsense approach. A couple of crunching first-half challenges and not afraid to put himself about. | Simon Roe/ProSportsImages

8. Rocco Shein - 7 - Man of the Match
Left-wing corner led to Pompey’s opener after it was headed out only so far as Segecic. Early days, yet continues to make a favourable impression. Has time on the ball, uses it well and looks a good signing. | Dan Minto/ProSportsImages
