Pompey were undone by three goals in seven minutes as they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by West Ham on the opening day of the season.
The Blues led through Adrian Segecic’s deflected 33rd-minute strike heading towards half-time, only for a late collapse to turn the match on its head.
The Hammers netted twice in the final few minutes of the half, through Valentin Castellanos and Jarrod Bowen, to go in at the break with a 2-1 advantage.
Then, on 50 minutes, Castellanos grabbed his second with a header from Bowen’s cross to seal a 3-1 success for the Hammers.

2. Nicolas Schmid - 6
Really struggled for accuracy with his kicking, although did superbly with one awkward lofted passback from Shaughnessy in the first half. No chance with Bowen’s deflected goal. One good late save. | Simon Roe/ProSportsImages

3. Terry Devlin - 7
Solid performance against the calibre of West Ham. Superb goal-saving block on Castellanos just after half-time as the attacker attempted to tap in. Had more attacking joy in the first half and all-round a decent match. | Stephen Flynn/ProSportsImages

4. Conor Shaughnessy - 7
Pompey’s familiar centre-half partnership have started the season again, as if it was in any doubt. Another assured showing from Shaughnessy, who was excellent aerially. | Simon Roe/ProSportsImages
