Pompey’s Championship season began with a disappointing 3-1 defeat to QPR.
John Mousinho’s men started superbly, taking a 15-minute lead through Terry Devlin’s stunning 30-yard strike - and had opportunities to add to that.
However, QPR responded with three goals in the last 12 minutes of the first half, all through poor defensive moments, with Ilias Chair (two) and Koki Saito registering.
Pompey could find no way back, despite introducing Josh Murphy and Ryan Kvumba-McQueen in the second half, and slumped to a Fratton Park defeat.
Here are our Pompey player ratings...

5. Regan Poole - 5
(Replaced by Benjy Arthur on 72 mins) Arthur’s arrival has put pressure on the centre-halves and this wasn’t Poole at his best. Will be disappointed at the manner of the second goal, which he was caught in limbo for the third, leaving Chair alone to finish. | Simon Roe/ProSportsImages

6. Zak Swanson - 6
(Replaced by Marko Milovanovic on 72 mins) Produced one sublime cross from the left in the first half which Kamara couldn’t quite reach at the far post. Thundered into a few tackles and always willing to get forward. | Chris Foxwell/ProSportsImages

7. Ebou Adams - 6
(Replaced by Odin Bailey on 83 mins) Restored back to the centre of midfield after his number 10 stint at West Ham. Will claim an assist for the pass for Devlin’s stunning strike but his display was fitful throughout. Some good moments and poor occasions. | Chris Foxwell/ProSportsImages

8. Rocco Shein - 5
Unrecognisable from the West Ham game to demonstrate he’ll need plenty of time and patience to adjust to the English game. Beaten in a couple of tackles and couldn’t stamp his authority on proceedings | Ben Whitley/PA Wire
