Portsmouth secure their sixth signing of transfer window as international forward Luke Brooke-Smith makes Fratton Park switch
Luke Brooke-Smith has become Pompey’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window
Luke Brooke-Smith is now the newest member of Pompey’s ranks.
The one-cap New Zealand international has completed his move to Fratton Park to become the third new arrival at PO4 in six days.
Following in the footsteps of Marko Milovanovic and Daniel Bielica, who joined at the tail end of last week, Brooke-Smith has transferred to the Blues for an undisclosed fee from A-League side Wellington Phoenix. Although, the transfer issubject to registrations being confirmed by FIFA, The FA and the EFL.
The 18-year-old forward has signed a four-year deal with the club, after coming through the ranks of Cambridge FC and Hamilton Wanderers before his move to Wellington in 2024.
A player who can operate across the forward line, Brooke-Smith made 34 appearances in total for The Nix before sealing his move to Pompey.
Seeing off clubs from Italy, Spain and the MLS, he represents the sixth player the Blues have recruited from the A-League in recent years.
Kusini Yengi, Hayden Matthews, Thomas Waddingham, Jacob Farrell and Adrian Segecic have all made the exact same journey to Fratton Park, with Yengi the only one of that quintet still not with the club.
Brooke-Smith’s arrival will boost John Mousinho’s wing options, with Josh Murphy still rehabilitating following a groin operation and Keshi Anderson ruled out for three months after yet another injury blow.
Harvey Blair and Franco Umeh are the other options on the flanks at present, although the latter has yet to feature in pre-season friendlies this summer following an injury-wrecked first Fratton Park season.
Academy second-year scholar Brandon Downey has stepped up to feature on the left wing in pre-season.
Brooke-Smith is Pompey’s sixth signing of the summer, with Odin Bailey, Eoin Kenny and Rocco Shein also making the move to Fratton Park during the current transfer window.
