John Mousinho is hoping to bolster his frontline during the summer window as he assembles his latest Championship squad.
The head coach’s attacking issues were laid bare once more in a pre-season friendly against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, with a number of familiar faces featuring in unfamiliar positions.
Amid injuries to Franco Umeh, Josh Murphy and Keshi Anderson, the Blues ended the 3-1 defeat with a makeshift team in order to give members of the squad precious game time.
This saw central defender Ibane Bowat finish the fixture playing on the left wing, while trialilst Arvin Appiah featured on both the left and right wing at Adams Park.
The 23-year-old has been touted with a return to PO4 during the window as his future with Hull City remains uncertain.
As the Blues’ issues out wide continue to hamper their plans, we’ve taken a look at every player who has appeared on the wing at Fratton Park since their return to the Championship in 2024.
Here are all those names - with some more surprising than others.
21. Adrian Segecic
Segecic enjoyed a brilliant maiden campaign at PO4 last term, netting 11 goals and providing four assists. However, the 21-year-old's preferred position is through the middle - somewhere he's looking to make his own this term. | Jez Tighe/ProSportsImages

22. Elias Sorensen
Sorensen featured on the left-wing twice for the Blues during his six-month stay at the start of the 2024-25 campaign. One of those appearances included a penalty miss against Oxford United in September 2024. | Jason Brown/ProSportsImages

23. Gustavo Caballero
Caballero added plenty of pace and flair on the right-wing following his loan signing from Santos in the January window. The 24-year-old netted once in 14 appearances but missed the final four games due to injury. Pompey have already ruled out a Fratton return for the winger, who impressed for Paraguay in this summer's World Cup. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages
