Interest in former Portsmouth favourite Abu Kamara ramps up as Hull City prepare fire sales
Abu Kamara’s Hull City future remains under the spotlight as the summer transfer window opens.
Interest is reportedly growing in former Pompey favourite Abu Kamara ahead of the transfer window window.
Hull City are bracing for a busy start to the summer as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.
The Tigers, who secured a return to the top-flight after play-off victory at Wembley, have been under a transfer embargo for two windows due to late payments on loan signings and are still in danger of breaching outgoing profit and sustainability (P&S) rules.
That figure is measured over a rolling three-window period, but will be replaced by real-time monitoring under incoming squad cost ratio (SCR) rules.
Interest ramping up over ex-Pompey favourite
This means a fire sale is expected to take place on Humberside before July 1, with Kamara among many of Sergej Jakirovic’s squad who have been deemed surplus to requirements.
And clubs are believed to be looking to take advantage of the 22-year-old’s situation at the MKM Stadium this summer.
Hull Daily Mail have reported that there is growing interest in the winger, who will likely secure a permanent move away during the transfer window.
Along with interest in Kamara, it has been said that the likes of Mason Burstow, Kasey Palmer, Abdus Omar and David Atkintola are also on the radar of several unnamed clubs.
The report does suggest progress is being made in moving on first-team players as funds are made available.
The ex-Norwich City man’s future is once again under the spotlight, having featured just twice as Hull secured promotion to the Premier League.
Signing in August 2025, the Fratton Park title winner spent last term on loan with Spanish outfit Getafe, where he failed to register a goal or assist in 13 outings in all competitions.
Following his return in early April, the England youth international totalled just a further 58 minutes of football in the final nine matches as Jose Bordales’ men secured Conference League qualification.
And it appears Kamara has himself ruled out a return to the Coliseum Stadium after a farewell post on social media.
Abu Kamara and Pompey

News of a possible Hull City exit comes two years after the forward completed a £4.5m switch from Norwich City after an outstanding campaign on loan at Fratton Park.
The Blues have kept close tabs on Kamara following his exit in 2024 and were keen to make his temporary stay permanent as they prepared for life back in the Championship.
That quickly became abundantly clear later that summer when the Tigers forked out an eye-watering figure for his services.
The picture may be a different one now, however, with Pompey indicating they are willing to up their level of spending and Kamara’s parent club needing to carry out some quick business.
No doubt the Fratton faithful would love to see the title winner back at PO4, with the Blues having to focus on their own attacking reinforcements this summer.
He is, of course, remembered fondly for his 10 goals and 11 assists in their never-to-be-forgotten League One success.
