'Fallen through': Portsmouth suffer significant transfer blow in pursuit of midfielder Gibson Yah

A fresh update in Pompey’s pursuit of FC Volendam midfielder Gibson Yah.

Gibson Yah’s reported move to Pompey is off.

That’s according to BBC Radio Solent’s Andy Moon, who has suggested a move for the 22-year-old has ‘fallen through’ as the Blues looked to conduct their first piece of summer business.

It is believed Yah would have been allowed to depart the Kras Stadion for free during the window following Erwin van de Looi’s side’s relegation from the Eredivisie.

The former Ajax talent featured 26 times for Volendam in Holland’s top flight, having moved from Utrecht 12 months ago.

After a brilliant start with Het Andere Oranje, the holding midfielder’s campaign was halted due to injury in December, with a knee issue forcing him to miss two months of action.

Following his return, Yah started just five of Volendam’s final 10 games as they suffered relegation from the Eredivisie following a play-off defeat to Willem II on penalties.

But a move to Fratton Park now looks to be off the cards for the Dutch youth international, with a deal now reportedly off.

At least one central midfielder is on the Blues’ shopping list this summer following Andre Dozzell’s departure at the end of the season.

Mousinho currently has three operators at his disposal in his engine room after Marlon Pack recently penned a new deal to extend his stay and joins Ebou Adams and Luke Le Roux in the heart of midfield.

Meanwhile, Mark Kosznovszky remains sidelined with a serious knee injury and isn’t expected to return until later this year.
