‘Actively looking’: Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones delivers intriguing transfer admission amid interest in Portsmouth target Abu Kamara
Pompey and Charlton Athletic are both interested in Hull City winger Abu Kamara this summer.
Nathan Jones has confirmed Charlton Athletic are ‘actively looking’ to sign a new right winger this summer amid interest in Abu Kamara.
The race to sign the Hull City man during the window is intensifying, with Pompey confident of recapturing the former Fratton Park loanee on a permanent basis.
But there is competition to land the 23-year-old, who remains out-of-favour at the MKM Stadium, from the Blues’ Championship rivals.

Charlton are also believed to be tracking Kamara as they look to strengthen their wide options ahead of the new campaign.
The Irishman, who netted one goal and provided one assist during his loan stay at PO4 during the second half of last term, joins Rob Apter, Tyreece Campbell and Karlan Grant out wide at The Valley.
Amid their interest in Kamara this summer, the Charlton boss has confirmed his side are still looking to strengthen their wide options before the close of the window.
Charlton ‘actively looking’ at wingers amid Abu Kamara interest
And it’s a position Jones has admitted the Addicks are ‘actively looking’ at, with the Hull City man believed to be on their radar.
Speaking to Charlton’s official website about his side’s transfer plans, the head coach said: ‘Millenic Alli hasn’t done any pre-season at Luton, really, so we’ve got to build him up but he’ll add that.
‘When we let Rob (Apter) go on loan last season, we only had one player that can go one-v-one in TC (Tyreece Campbell).
‘It was a big impetus on him to supply and to create and to be that difference.
‘Now we have him, we have Karlan Grant, we have Rob Apter, we have Millenic Alli and we are looking at bringing in another one as well.
‘We are going to have five one-v-one options which is what we need to evolve the playing style.
‘We are looking at midfield players - we want a real dominant midfield player.
‘We also want competition for Rob on his side (right wing), and we are actively looking to do that and this is why we have kept our powder dry.’
Pompey looking to sign Abu Kamara this summer

Pompey are looking to re-sign Kamara this summer as John Mousinho attempts to bolster his Championship arsenal.
The winger, of course, netted 10 goals and collected 11 assists during an enjoyable season-long loan stay at Fratton Park, helping the Blues to the 2023-24 League One title.
During his two-year stint in the north east, Kamara has so far failed to eclipse the outstanding form seen in his time on the south coast, scoring just five goals in 40 appearances for the Tigers.
The ex-Norwich City man currently remains in Turkey with his Hull squad as Sergej Jakirovic’s side ready themselves for Premier League football.
