New supercomputer predicts final 2026-27 Championship table after opening weekend results - and where Portsmouth, Middlesbrough and Co finish

Pompey began the 2026-27 campaign with a 3-1 defeat at home to QPR on Saturday.

John Mousinho’s new-look outfit took the lead early on when Terry Devlin fired in from 25 yards to open his account for the campaign.

But Julien Stephan’s side responded in quick succession, with an Ilias Chair double separated by a Koki Saito goal before the break.

The Blues were unable to find a way back in the second half and subsequently fell to their first opening day defeat since August 2019.

It is still very-much early days, however, but Mousinho is now targeting further additions in the window and a response against newly-promoted Lincoln City next Saturday.

But what are the early predictions following the first round of fixtures?

We’ve taken to football statistics website Opta, who have used their data and analytics to predict how the final Championship table could look at the end of the campaign following this weekend’s opening round of results.

Is this where Pompey could finish in May?
