19 cracking photos of 20,479 Portsmouth faithful at Fratton Park for Championship opener against QPR

Pompey fell to a 3-1 opening-day defeat to QPR at Fratton Park on Saturday afternoon.

Pompey suffered a 3-1 defeat against QPR on the opening day of the new Championship campaign at Fratton Park on Saturday.

A brilliant atmosphere greeted the players ahead of the curtain raiser at PO4, with 20,479 in attendance under the south-coast sunshine.

Despite Terry Devlin firing home a spectacular 25-yard opener just 15 minutes in, the Hoops capitalised on disappointing defending from John Mousinho’s men to go into the break 3-1 ahead.

A Koki Saito goal either side of an Ilias Chair double gave the visitors a two-goal advantage before half-time, with Julien Stephan’s side holding on to the opening day maximum points.
