‘Absolute disgrace. Cap prices immediately. Criminal’: Portsmouth faithful vent anger over shock QPR ticket prices

Pompey visit west London to face QPR at Loftus Road on March 21.

Pompey fans on social media have vented their anger at QPR’s ticket prices for the upcoming contest in west London on March 21.

John Mousinho’s men make the short trip to the capital in less than three weeks time, where they’ll be hoping to ease any relegation fears as their survival battle gathers pace.

Indeed, the Blues have been allocated 1,700 tickets in the School End at Loftus Road, which will no doubt sell out given supporters’ incredible backing on the road in recent weeks.

Pompey frustration over QPR ticket prices

Gold regular views - the best viewing experience - have been valued at an eye-watering £39 for adults (aged 27-62) by QPR, while fans under the age of 18 will still have to pay £21.

Gold restricted viewing won’t come too much cheaper either, with adults paying just £2 less, with U18 tickets costing £20.

Silver packages come in at £33 and £31 respectively for adults, while children have to pay £18 and £17 respectively.

QPR’s pricing for away tickets have been consistent throughout the season, with Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers and Coventry City fans also paying those prices in the R’s previous three home matches.

And that is something which has caused uproar by the Fratton faithful, who have taken to social media to voice their opposition at the cost of tickets at Loftus Road for their visit later this month.

Here’s the best of the reaction from both X and Facebook.

X

@officialfournil: £39.00 for an away ticket to a second tier game of English football is absolutely criminal.

@PropPersonnel: Absolute disgrace. They should hang their heads in shame.

@ryanlewis79: Thirty Nine Great British Pounds.

@parquedelperro: Plenty to dislike about the Premier League but at least there is a £30 price cap for away tickets. The away seating at QPR certainly not the best and charging £39 for the privilege is taking the proverbial.

MartinChapman12: £39 for Championship football...

@arpitpatel16: Should be capped like the premier league at £30

@Harvey163801882: Big ticket prices from a tiny club. Absolutely disgraceful to charge that for an U18 being the club you are.

@SxPFC_: Cap prices immediately.

@capfc11: Anyone fancy explaining what difference is with the QPR gold & silver regular view and the gold and silver restricted?? Ridiculous pricing as well, £60 for me and the boy if we get gold regular view!!

Facebook

Mick Linter: Rip off as normal they know we will fill it.

Tony Brooks: This is why the EFL should have something in place that they can’t charge more than £30 like the Premier League.

Andrew Tanglefoot Larder: Prem prices. League One team.

Scott Attrill: 39 quid to batter them, not score and then lose the game 1-0 where do I sign up?

Kev Savage: Way over the top.
